The new Netflix teen movie 'The Half Of It' was bewildering. Here's why we thought so.

Happily for all of us socially isolating in our homes, this spring has been filled with new shows and movies with Asian American themes that are available to stream.

One of the most intriguing was Alice Wu's new teen movie "The Half of It," which stars Leah Lewis, Daniel Diemer, Alexxis Lemire, and Collin Chou and debuted on Netflix on May 1. "The Half of It" tells the story of Ellie Chu, a Taiwanese American teen who lives with her recently widowed father in the remote town of Squahamish. A trained engineer with a PhD, Ellie's father settled in Squahamish to be the town's station master when his lack of English fluency prevented him from getting many other engineering positions.
