Jobs For Girls With Artistic Flair by June Gervais

A teen girl who dreams of being a tattoo artist navigates 1980s Long Island in Jobs for Girls With Artistic Flair

There are certain themes that draw both of us here at the Lakshmi and Asha Show in right away, and it should be so surprise that a novel set in a sleepy small town on Long Island (!) in the 1980s (!) about an aspiring tattoo artist (!) trying to break gender barriers (!) hit a bunch of those themes all at once. Those are just some of the reasons we were so glad that we had early access to June Gervais' new novel Jobs for Girls With Artistic Flair, which hit shelves earlier this week.
