“Hollow Fires” by Samira Ahmed

Hollow Fires by Samira Ahmed

Hollow Fires is a prescient page-turner that tackles Islamophobia and the ghost skins in our midst

In a total (and rather depressing) coincidence, this week's book is about how white supremacy and white supremacist beliefs are inescapable at all levels of American society.

Author Samira Ahmed has never hesitated to explore the themes of Islamophobia, racism and discrimination in ways that are approachable to her teen audience. (We read her futuristic book “Internment” — which imagined a world in which American Muslims were rounded up into camps — back in 2019.
