“The Decagon House Murders” by Yukito Ayatsuji
The Decagon House Murders is a fascinating Japanese murder mystery that pays homage to the classics
Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None is considered by many mystery lovers to be one of the gold standards of the genre.
It's no surprise then that Christie's 1939 novel has inspired countless tributes and homages in the decades since. One of the most intriguing of those novels is Yukito Ayatsuji's The Decagon House Murders, which was first published in the author's native Japanese in 1987. A hit in Japan, it was translated into English for the first time by Ho-Ling Wong and published earlier this spring by Pushkin Press (who very nicely sent us review copies.)
