“A Secret Love” (Netflix)

A Secret Love promised a great love story. Here's why we were left disappointed.

As many of you know, A League of Their Own is near the top of this newsletter's "Greatest Films of All Time" list, so we’re always eager to read or watch anything about the players who were part of the The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (which existed from 1943 to 1954.)

Our fascination with the AAGPBL was just one of the reasons we were so eager to watch the new Netflix documentary A Secret Love -- which is about a lesbian ballplayer with the league who fell in love with a fellow athlete and proceeded to keep their relationship secret for the next 70 years.
